Riley and I went out at 5:30am today.
We were out back by the water for less than 2 or 3 minutes
and I knew it was going to be a wonderful day,
a gift of solitude from Mother Nature.
The day woke up grey, the winds chatting up the bay.
The strong gusts, almost silver in tone. They play, they dart in and out shouldered by the persistence of a salty breeze.
The air is delicious, a welcomed communion.
I love the quiet in my head and heart, the silence is nurturing.
The grey skies and the silver winds almost juvenile in their attempt to interrupt and upset the calm.
Mornings like these remind of me the note I have taped to my computer on desktop at home, from E.E. Cummings.
For whatever we lose (like you and me)
It's always ourselves we find in the sea.
And then there is coffee !
I am taking in all the flavors: eyes, ears, lungs, heartbeats.
It's all good…... this very morning.
