T R A V E L T R A V E L T R A V E L

Ana and Parker are sending daily updates from their adventures in Cambodia and Thailand. All the photos vivid, lots of details and colors. I can feel the warm temperatures and humidity. I love all the portraits they've shared, people all over the world with a common gesture and greeting: THE SMILE.

Whether you are going around the corner, or around the globe, it is one step that begins the journey. It is one step that begins the inward travel in our own hearts and minds as we meet new people, wander around in new countries, cities, villages and even wats.

The journey is perspective, what is common and uncommon, what is the connection between peoples who can't speak the same language yet understand the gesture in one hand reaching for another ? Or the twinkle in a smile or a simple song ? How is a full moon different in Siem Reap vs.  Shalimar ? Or is it the same ?

My sense of travel adventure and discovery nurtured early on as Grandma Chichi in Panama spent many many late mornings and early afternoons sharing stories of her travel experiences around the world with Granda Rogelio. She crossed the Atlantic by boat and flew all over the world. My Grandfather Rogelio was definitely big on adventure, we heard many great stories when we were children.

I remember vivid descriptions of Paris, Rome, Tokyo, and especially the lake region between Chile and Argentina. My Grandma loved that area of the world, she said it was the most beautiful, peaceful, pristine scenery she had ever seen.  I have photos of them riding camels and holding snakes somewhere in Egypt; also photos of them in New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles and Iowa.

Ana and Parker, travel home safe and thanks for all the updates.
