The First Day - Lima

Today we were up all early, even though we went to bed past 1am. The hotel is wonderful, the breakfast amazing. I finally got to see Roger and Mary - it is great to have them along for the adventures.

We ventured into the Miraflores district of Lima which is right on the water, the Pacific Ocean. We went down to the Larco shopping, restaurant area, right on the water, the morning was fogged in, very typical for this time of year. Kind of interesting and mysterious all at the same time.

We had our first Peruvian Ceviche and Pisco Sours, all good. At 2:30pm we embarked on our city tour, and it was great. Peru as almost 9million people, it is a interesting mix of architecture styles, old, new, bright, faded, affluent and shanty towns, they have everything. The people are nice, considerate. Lots of major parks, fountains, cathedrals, all the things you expect in an old city. Peru and LIma have been around for a long time.

Tonight we are going to a great restaurant, I cant remember the name right now, but I will give you the full review tomorrow. We are scheduled to leavet at 7am to catch a flight to Cusco. I wont have time to do a blog entry tomorrow until we get to the Sacred Valley.

Hello to Maddie and Morgan - hope all is going well with BD and Robert.
