Machu Picchu has been on the "travel" list for a long time and here we are a few days away from the journey. Cindy and I have the pleasure of enjoying our adventure, trials, surprises and smiles and laughter, with Rogelio Arosemena and Mary Sucre, Susan Wallach and Liz Moneymaker and Sue and Nikki Heise !
We are so excited. We are headed to Lima, the capital of Peru - we will be there 2 nights, enough time for a city tour and a taste of the real "Peruvian Ceviche" and I am sure a few Pisco Sours, which we will toast to Dan and Ticha from Tierra in Atlanta. Then we head to Cusco at 11, 000 feet elevation - which is the begining of our journey to get to Machu Picchu. There is a flight, a train ride, a trek in a van for a few hours, and then finally we are in Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu.
Stay tuned along the way for daily updates to the blog - I will include information on sights, sounds, food, culture, the people, smells, colors.... as much information as I can share so you get the feel for Peru.
