A Poem About An Orchid & A Dog, by E. Arosemena

The white orchid bends
over the black rail,
the balcony on the 7th floor
it's permanent post.

The flower stretches, leans,
as if waiting, searching,
hoping for a lover.

Seven verandas down,
at street level,
a Doberman barks twice
sure of the afternoon.
